Two of five suspects who kidnapped Dua Mangi, Bisma arrested: Karachi police chief

KARACHI: Two of the five suspects who had kidnapped Dua Mangi and Bisma Saleem in 2019 have been arrested, Additional Inspector-General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon said Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference, Memon said the house where the abducted young women were held had been tracked down and that five suspects in total were involved in the kidnappings. The suspects had rented a flat in the metropolis’ Clifton, Block 2 area a year ago, he added.

Two of them had been arrested so far, he said, and weapons recovered as well.

The Karachi police chief said bounties on the absconding suspects would be announced soon, adding that his recommendation was Rs5 million. The gang have been involved in similar crimes, as well as car thefts, in the past too, he noted.

Memon underlined that a “police officer, Agha Mansoor, was also involved in the kidnappings”; however, he had been removed from his post. A woman was part of the abductors’ gang too.

Referring to the two young women who were kidnapped last year, the police chief mentioned that both would be provided complete security.
